Hosting a Halloween party for grown-ups? Got the itch for some of that strange brew?

Treat your guests (and yourself!) to a sip down spooky lane with these bewitching cocktails.

Halloween Spirits

Witches Brew
– 2 bottles chilled champagne
– 1 gallon orange juice
– 1/2 gallon orange or lime sherbet
– 1 bunch peeled black grapes
– Sugar to taste
– 1 bottle (2 liters) 7 Up, Sprite or ginger ale
– 1/2 bottle vodka
– Small pieces of dry ice
– Bunches of grapes for garnish

Combine champagne and orange juice in large punch bowl. Scoop sherbet into bowl; will foam on top. Add sugar to taste. Float peeled grapes in mixture and garnish bowl with the rest of the grapes. Drop in pieces of dry ice for fog effect (note: no one should put dry ice in his or her mouth!).

Blood Punch

A variation of the Bloody Mary is always good for scaring up some fun. Simply use the traditional Bloody Mary recipe of Bloody Mary mix, vodka and pepper—but add some Old Bay to give the drink an extra kick, and float in some gummy eyeballs or worms, or a frozen ice hand (made by freezing water inside a latex glove and removing the glove before floating).

– 1 1/2 ounces Smirnoff Vanilla Twist or Absolut Vanilia vodka
– 1/4 ounce Godiva Original Chocolate Liqueur
– 1/4 ounce half-and-half
– 1/4 ounce simple syrup
– 1/4 ounce shavings of white chocolate

Fill shaker with ice, vodka, Godiva Original Chocolate Liqueur, half-and-half and simple syrup. Shake. Strain into chilled martini glass rimmed with white chocolate shavings for garnish.

Pumpkin Margaritas

– 2 ounces tequila
– 1 1/2 ounces pumpkin cream liqueur
– 1/2 ounce Triple Sec
– 2 cups ice

Blend all together until smooth, pour into a 16-ounce (pint) glass and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Wormy Shots

Jell-O shooters are always popular at a Halloween party. Simply follow the package directions on green, orange, purple, wildberry or blue Jell-O, but use half the amount of water and half vodka. Buy individual plastic shot glasses, and after you pour the liquid in the glasses, add one half of a gummy worm poking its head out of each shot.

Any one of these (or a few!) will create a spirited effect for your Halloween party. Last year at Target, I found a whole cool line of Halloween cocktail accessories like ice molds, stirrers, gummy eyeballs to float in drinks, etc. So keep your eyes open!

Have a blast at your party!
