I am four months pregnant and just started breaking out. Are there any anti-acne treatments on the market that will be safe for me to use?Maggie, Birmingham, AL
Juice Yes! Be glad that you are pregnant in the age of green. There are a lot of all-natural beauty lines today that are safe for use while pregnant and just as good—if not better—than their chemical-laden counterparts. Look into lines like Aubrey Organics (www.aubreyorganics.com) or Juice Beauty (www.juicebeauty.com). I starting using Juice Beauty recently and am loving it. I also like Basq, a unique skincare line designed to meet the needs of a woman during pregnancy. Check out their Rebalancing Facial Cleanser ($34, www.basqnyc.com) helps to rebalance and refine hormonally-inundated skin. Basq

What's the latest trend in baby showers?—Kate, Aspen, CO
Here's the hottest and smartest baby shower idea: a CPR party. Now, don't be daunted—I don't mean a six-hour plus CPR certification program. I mean hiring a local EMS squad to come to your house and teach all the shower-goers how to save a life.

In August, we featured a charity called C.H.A.S.E. for Life click here to read this life-changing storythat was started with a mission to bring CPR, Heimlich and Safety Awareness Education (hence C.H.A.S.E.) to everyone.

According to C.H.A.S.E. founder Farley Boyle, a suburban mother of three who almost lost her then two year old daughter in a near-death drowning incident, "If you retain 20% of what you learned, you have an 80% chance of success. Just get educated and you can't go wrong."

So, what better way to herald in a new life than by giving the gift of life to your family friends? For more information, go to www.chaseforlife.org.

What's the latest fitness craze for pregnant women?—Jess, Fishers, Indiana

Portable Pilates

Well, let me preface this by saying that fitness is something you should discuss with your doctor first. We asked fitness guru superstar Alycea Ungaro, pioneer of the Pilates method in New York City, personal instructor to such luminaries as Madonna, Uma Thurman and Claire Danes and licensed physical therapist and perinatal specialist, for her input on exercising while pregnant.

Ungaro says to exercise regularly, adding: "Gone are the days of lounging through your pregnancy. Your exercise program should prepare you for the rigorous and even grueling task of parenting." She encourages mamas-to-be to continue their core (ab) exercises, noting that as the abdominal wall stretches to accommodate the baby, women will need to keep those muscles toned.

She warns not to push through the pain. "Pain is a signal that something is wrong. Listen to your body," Ungaro says. She also says not to hold your breath, as it deprives the blood of oxygen that will, in turn, deprive the baby of oxygen. And lastly, she adds, "Don't eat right before you exercise. Allow your body time to digest and use the nutrients you feed it by eating 45 minutes before you workout."

For more tips on maintaining your health and fitness for the big forty weeks, go to www.realpilatesnyc.com

Ungaro's Real Pilates studio at 177 Duane Street in NYC offers Real Pilates Mama pre-natal workshops.
