Organic Cooks Bible

The Organic Cook's Bible

As an avid cook, I have an ever-growing library of cookbooks. One of my recent additions is The Organic Cook’s Bible by Jeff Cox, and it is the ultimate go-to guide for organic-food knowledge. Thorough and comprehensive, The Organic Cook’s Bible helps you to “go organic” by showing you how to “know organic.” Everything from fruits and vegetables to meats, dairy, spices and edible flowers is included. There are even recipes that highlight each item. Cox also features exotic and rare produce. (Have you ever heard of a mangosteen? Supposedly, it’s the most delicious fruit in the world.) This is a must-have resource for anyone who wants to enhance his or her natural-food know-how.

Ironing Board Cover

Certified Organic Ironing-Board Cover

Thanks to the influence of my Irish grandmother, I really know how to iron. As odd as it sounds, I enjoy it, too. I don a vintage slip, pin up my hair and iron away while watching old Bette Davis movies (okay, I am single and that’s how I spent last Saturday night). It recently dawned on me that my old ironing board cover wasn’t organic. I shuddered at the thought that I was ironing in chemicals into my family’s mostly organic wardrobe. I found a fabulous organic ironing board cover that comes with a wool underpad and is hand washable—which is a good thing, since I avoid the dry cleaners (read: chemicals!) at all costs.
