Baby’s Daily Log When I had my daughter, my husband made a spreadsheet that came to be known in our house as the “Poop, Pee, Eat Log.” We kept it on a clipboard in the hallway. It wasn’t very pretty but it served its purpose. His friend had given him the idea, and I remember, upon hearing it, thinking that it was such a waste-of-time thing to do. Who wouldn’t remember how many times her baby ate or peed her diaper? Yeah. I thought that right up until I had a baby and couldn’t remember my first name. I was literally walking into walls. I was dazed and confused for so long. For two seconds, I had visions of making a formal book out of it. Visions. Delusions. Whatever. Anyway, Baby’s Daily Log is the book I would have made (though at the time, I bet mine would have had curse words in it). Not only does it help you keep track of what’s going on with your baby, but it has other useful features like a place for all your important information, from need-to-know phone numbers to vital stats like Baby’s weight, length, etc. So it’s part journal, part go-to resource and part poop, pee, eat tracker. I love it! I love having a proper (and cute!) place to put things. Kinda even makes me want to have another baby, just so I can use it. Only kidding, Love. Kinda. |

Polished Mama Nail Polish and Nail Polish Remover I am all up in that organic business. My parents contend that I must, almost single-handedly, keep Whole Foods in business. The New York Times reports that they’re failing. I guess they hadn’t heard about me before the issue went to press. Hmph. Needless to say (and yet I am saying it), I was super into organics when I was pregnant with my daughter almost five years ago; however, I still used those ultra-chemmed-up nail polishes for my manicures and pedicures. During my second pregnancy, which came two years after launching TFG, I knew enough to use the organic versions—and since then, well, who has time for manicures and pedicures with two kids? Recently, though, I discovered the fun, nontoxic shades from Polished Mama. They’re DBP- and odor-free, which is still important, even though I am not pregnant. There are enough menacing chemicals out there in world; we don’t need to have them right at (or on, as it were) our fingertips. They’ve also got a good all-natural nail polish remover scented of lemongrass and coconut that’s made with soybean and corn oils and aloe vera for extra cuticle and nail care. |
