A Father's Day Gift from the IRC Not sure what to buy your main man? This is by far the coolest thing I've come across in a long time: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is offering really (as in really) meaningful gifts for refugee families across the world. An $18 spend sends a mosquito net for a refugee family in Africa; $87 buys a bicycle to help a father in an uprooted community get to and from work; $330 pays for job training that will help a refugee become self-sufficient. In return, Dad will get a personalized card (aka proof that you didn't make the whole thing up).

Since we launched, I have dreamed of having a wine site as a sponsor. I mean, what do moms need more in life than wine? Hello! Well, four years later, my dream has come true. Our latest and greatest Premier Partner is none other than a fabulous boutique called donna da vine. Founded by two sisters, Alyssa and Jenifer, and lovingly named for their mother, Donna, whose lust for life serves as their constant inspiration, donna da vine is a super-happening brick-and-mortar in Brooklyn and an online destination for the best in wines from around the world. The ethos of their business is intoxicating. These women are passionate about what they do, they L-O-V-E wine and they want you to love it, too. Now on to my fave gift of the moment for moms: the Da Vine Mama, a party pack of four wines made by mom winemakers. How cool is that? Be sure to check out the rest of their affordable party packs, including the Bubblelicious, which was featured on the O List in, well, I don't even have to finish that sentence, do I? Hook yourself up, mamas! I am talking auto-ship. Lest you nary be without a bottle at wine-thirty. Lest. nary. Yup. ($85, www.donnadavine.com) |

We don’t use chemicals on our lawn. We haven’t in years. Does it look Better Homes and Gardens fabulous? Nope. But I can let my kids play in the grass without feeling freaked out. Really, no one should use chemicals on their lawn. Think about what you are tracking into your home—not to mention what you are doing to your neighborhood and neighbors. This year, we’re trying Nature’s Avenger Organic Weed Killer. So far, so good. It’s made from a citrus-based oil and can be used on the lawn, sidewalk, driveway, mulch beds, shrubs and flower beds. It’s also pretty fast acting and EPA registered—which means they ain’t buggin’. Speaking of the creepy-crawlies, we canned Terminix two years ago, too. No major trouble to report, but if you’ve got a situation, Nature’s Avenger has a bug and insect killer, too. ($8.95, Nature’s Avenger Organic Weed Killer Ready-to-Use 24 oz. Spray; $18.95, Nature’s Avenger Organic Weed Killer 32 oz. Concentrate; $9.95, Nature’s Avenger Bug and Insect Killer Ready-to-Use 24 oz. Spray; www.naturesavenger.com)
