Savon de Marseilles Every time I used to go to France, I would pick up as much Savon de Marseilles as I could fit in my suitcase. Savon de Marseilles is an olive oil-based soap usually handcrafted by artisan soap makers in the south of France. Nothing—and I mean nothing—I have ever tried has left my skin so soft and supple. Since I’ve become a mother and business owner, I haven’t had the opportunity to frolic back and forth to gay Paree like I used to, so I have turned to the Internet for my savon fix. Since going green these past two years, I now use organic Savon de Marseilles. I love the liquid pump version; in fact, every sink in my house is accessorized with one. It’s made with certified-organic olive and palm oils and contains no animal fats. Thanks to this wonderful soap, my hands are always soft and supple—as if I never do the dishes. Ha. Choice Organic Teas Over the winter, I became seriously addicted to caffeine. Now that the warmer weather is here, I am on a mission to ‘spring clean’ myself of my need for a caffeine boost. Decaf coffee just doesn’t do it for me (just like fat-free brownies—if you’re going to indulge, indulge). My new morning ritual is organic tea. I love the selections from Choice Organic Teas. They carry everything from exotic white teas to herbal and chai teas. There are so many infusions to choose from that I never get bored. I’ll drink to that. (Prices vary, www.choiceorganicteas.com) |

Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs During spring cleaning this year, I replaced all my energy-wasting, un-eco-friendly light bulbs with compact fluorescent (CFL) ones. With regular usage, they can last up to five years (which is great, because I won’t have to pester my dad anytime soon to lend me his ladder to install the ones high up) and, because they use less energy and are Energy Star compliant, will save me money on my electric bill as well. CFL light bulbs are affordable and look cool, too. They’re light bulbs gone groovy—love that. ($12.50 for a pack of three, www.greenhome.com) |
