TELLS YOU HOW TO GET GORGEOUS INSIDE AND OUT

GET GLOWING

As we flip through magazines, we see beautiful women with perfect skin and
wonder, “How can I look like that?” Well, we all would look flawless if we had
an army of beauty professionals at our beck and call. Think: Sergeant Stylist
armed with a turbo-boost blow-dryer, our own private aesthetician for perfect skin, a special
effects agent at the ready, airbrush in hand, and Commander Makeup Artist with her weapons of mass concealer. Yes, it takes a team of highly trained beauty warriors to make the models and actresses we see look the way that they do, aka perfect—not to mention the personal chef, trainer, assistant massage therapist and the rest of their staff.

So maybe we can’t look just like the pictures in a magazine, but we can get that coveted Hollywood glow à la Jennifer Lopez (who gets hers from master makeup artist Scott Barnes). Here’s how:

Natural BeautyFor the Body

Exfoliate skin and apply sunless tanning cream all over.

For the Face

Use moisturizer and then primer (be sure the moisturizer is well absorbed first and let your primer dry for one to two minutes before applying foundation).

Next apply your foundation and, if needed, concealer under the eyes.

Mix a dab of foundation with concealer and apply to your forehead, chin and bridge of nose (don’t make it too wide or your nose will look bigger).

Dust lightly with powder.

Use a pearlized shimmer (it reflects light onto skin—no Photoshop required) on your mid-forehead, chin, bridge of nose and cheekbones—keep the center of your face lighter for a more youthful glow.

Use a peach or pink bronzer (you can still use a golden brown bronzer if you would like; however, it is nice to have a little change with color). Apply at the highest point of the cheek, at the temple, sweeping upward into the hairline. This gives the face an instantly more youthful appearance.

For the Eyes

Use a pearly light gold or beige from lid to crease. Apply a smoky brown/shimmer from corner to corner (depending on eye shape). Below the brow, add the highlighter (light gold). Dot the inner eye and below the lash line like a vertical, sideways V.

Apply liquid eyeliner with your eyes halfway open. Draw a short line at the beginning, middle and end of your lid and then connect the lines. Line your lower lash line and blend. Just under your eyeliner, use gold shimmer—it will make your eyes pop!

Now you’re ready for mascara. Start from the base of the lashes and jiggle your way through to the tips, then do two complete sweeps from the lash base. As for the bottom lashes, I suggest using a tiny fan paintbrush (find one at an art supply store). Dip the fan brush in mascara and slightly sweep bottom lashes (or just leave them bare). For fuller lashes, you can use false lashes like J. Lo does.

For the Eyebrows

Use a taupe color (pencil or powder) and use feather-light strokes.

For the Lips

Exfoliate lips with a toothbrush with some Vaseline (wait at least 20 minutes before applying lipstick). To get full, luscious lips, bypass the lip injections and use cinnamon oil. Dab on your lips; the oil brings blood to the lips, which causes the plumping (be sure to check it out on your forearm first for allergies).

Now you’re ready to line your pout. Use one that matches your lipstick (if you wear lipstick, use a nude color, a light bronze shade or one like the universal color spice), slick on some beige gold gloss (try nude lipstick for a matte finish or pink for a fresh summer hue) and you are good to glow.
