| I am trying desperately to transition from a diaper bag back to a regular handbag. Can you recommend a good tote that’s cute, but big enough and sturdy enough to hold all my essentials—plus those of my two-year old?—Amanda, Washington, DC | ||

Oh, Amanda—I sooooooo understand where you’re coming from. I mourn the loss of my old handbags and even though my son is two as well, I still am having the trouble transitioning back to the purse (he just needs so much ….stuff!). There are, however, some great, roomy options that should make “the switch” effortless. My favorite: Kooba’s Aram Multi Stitch Shopper, which offers a magnetic snap closure for easy in and out, exterior side pockets—perfect for holding sippy cups. It also features an interior zip and wall pockets to keep your keys, wallet and phone free from stray Goldfish crumbs. Because it’s made from patent leather (which is incredibly hot right now—bonus points!), it will repel accidental spills better than traditional leather or fabric (one quick tip I learned from my pal Alison: if you’re gonna stash a cup inside your bag, keep it sealed in a quart-sized Ziploc bag, just in case). The best part: should you decide after testing it out that you’re not yet switch-ready, you’ll still be left with a really cute bag you’d probably want anyway. The bag can be purchased at Nordstrom stores and www.nordstrom.com for $595. |

| I need a good recommendation for a dark nail polish that doesn’t make me look completely goth. Got one?—Lauren, Naples, FL | |||
| Ultra-dark nail polish remains hot this season, after enjoying a chic resurgence in popularity last year. My personal favorites have been OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark, a blackish purple—trust me, it looks a lot better than it sounds. You can also try Essie’s Clutch ME If You Can, a deep wine with a slight hint of brown, and Essie’s Swing Velvet, a reddish purple with some shimmer. One piece of advice: if you’re doing your nails at home, be sure to use a base coat before applying polish so as to avoid staining your nails. The OPI polish is $7.93 while the Essie ones are $5.20 each, and all can be purchased at www.enailsupply.com. | |||

| I have a really large chest and have a hard time finding bras that don’t have five hooks in the back and two inch-wide straps. Do bras like this exist in sizes over a D-cup?—Rona, Brooklyn, NY | |
| Though not entirely gorgeous, Fantasie of England’s, full-coverage Smoothing Molded Cup Bra offers unparalleled support and features straps that are only three-quarter-inch wide and a mere three back hooks. One of my ample-chested friends swears by them, and claims they’re 100 percent worth the $50 price tag. The bras come on nude, white, black and chocolate and are available at www.barenecessities.com. | ![]() |
