2007 SPRING BEAUTY PREVIEW
GET THE HOTTEST LOOKS FOR SPRING WITH THESE STRAIGHT-FROM-THE-PROS TIPS

If you’re bored with dark lips and tired of wine-hued nails, there’s no need to fret—spring and its amazing new crop
of fun, flirty makeup is right around the corner. “Beauty is taking a refreshingly natural direction this spring,” says
celebrity makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff, who executed the looks for designers including Anna Sui, Jenni Kayne, Rosa
Cha and more during Spring 2007 Fashion Week. “Instead of the intense hues of fall, the spring season’s palette shows
more relaxed, wearable colors that exude simple sophistication and sheer elegance.” Below, find Sheriff’s tips on how
to update your look for spring.

Jergens Natural Glow Face Lorac Bronzer Tarte Sunburst Bronzing Lotion
Fresh Faced
Excessively bronzed skin takes a back seat to naturally glowing complexions. For a natural-looking glow, use a moisturizer like Jergens natural glow FACE Daily Moisturizer with SPF 20, which protects your skin from the sun while still giving you the same gorgeous glow of a suntan ($6.99, www.drugstore.com). For radiant-looking skin with a translucent shimmer, dust a powder bronzer with a hint of shimmer like LORAC’s Bronzer in Warm Glow to the cheekbones and décolleté area ($28, www.sephora.com). If you have drier skin, try dabbing on a liquid bronzing lotion like Tarte’s Sunburst Beaded Bronzing Lotion ($28, www.ephora.com).

Enchanting Eyes
The season welcomes a new application technique for the sheer, smoky eye. Put away your black liner and shadows—this style requires softer shades, including sparkly navy and lilac grays. “It looks just as mysterious as it sounds, but it’s easier than you think to create,” says Sheriff. First, choose a cream-based eye color in a smoky lavender or smoldering topaz. Great ones to try: TheBalm’s ShadyLady Cream Eye Shadow in Scandalous and Jinx ($14 each, www.sephora.com). Use a brush like Bobbi Brown’s Cream Shadow Brush ($24, www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com) or your fingertips to paint the shadow as close to the lash line as possible, blending in an upward and outward motion, depositing less color as you reach the brow bone. For a more dramatic, evening look, line eyes with an eye liner in a complementary shade and blend well.

Low-Maintenance Lips
To balance a smoky eye, opt for a glossy nude hue like Stila’s Plumping Lip Glaze in Vanilla Mint ($24, www.stilacosmetics.com). If you’ll be sporting a neutral eye, create a berry-hued stain by using a lip brush to coat lips with a long-wearing color like Rouge Dior Replenishing Lipstick in Plum Plot ($24, www.sephora.com).

Dewy Cheeks
Shelve your powder blushes and instead sweep on a gel cream-based cheek color, which will provide greater staying power in spring’s warmer climate. To apply, use a triangular-shaped sponge or your fingers to tap the color onto on the apples of your cheek, using a circular motion and blending upwards and outwards towards your hairline. This will create a natural, I-just-spent-day-outdoors-playing-tennis look. Our favorite formulas: Laura Geller’s Cheek Sweeps in Peach Pop and Primrose Pop ($29 for the pair, www.sephora.com) and Smashbox’s O-Glow Microcirculating Cheek Color ($26, sold exclusively for Sephora at www.sephora.com).

Bright Nails
As you shed your socks this season, experiment with bright pops of color on toes and fingernails. Try coral hues like Duri’s Coral Conquest ($5, www.duri.com) and Delux’s Cosmopolitan ($5.50, www.ephora.com) which look fabulous on tanned skin, or bright berry shades like Goldie’s Nail Lacquer in Cheshire ($7, www.bathandbodyworks.com) and Lippman Collection’s Makin’ Whoppee ($15, www.bathandbodyworks.com).
