GREEN DAYS: LOVE, ORGANIC-STYLE
ENVIRONMENTALIST HEATHER WOLFSON TALKS ABOUT SEX, NATURALLY
Green Days Love

As a new mom— to a son who doesn’t like to sleep—it is a
struggle to keep up on the romance. But, a sure-fire way to
keep things exciting and fresh is to live green in the bedroom.

LUBER OF LOVE
Looking for a little sexual healing? Ditch your old love lotions and potions and opt for an organic lubricant. My favorite is the Organic Virgin Coconut Oil by Garden of Life, a luscious body and lip moisturizer, stretch mark eraser, hair conditioner and cooking aid! This wonder-salve also has antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. And unlike its harmful counterparts, coconut oil does not stain the sheets or your clothing. Most other lubricants, such as KY Jelly, are petroleum-based. Petroleum, as we all know, is a non-renewable resource and use of it on the body has been linked to harmful health effects such as cancer, infertility, birth defects and neurological disorders.

BED OF GREENS
Making love on a conventional mattress and sheets treated with formaldehyde (a preservative for dead bodies) and boric acid (a roach killer) is the furthest thing from sexy and definitely not a turn on. My husband and I sleep on a luxurious organic cotton and rubber mattress with equally luxurious organic cotton linens.  Sleeping on these natural fibers allows for a better night's rest, relieving common ailments, such as allergies, asthma, skin irritations and insomnia. And, these special mattresses are the only ones currently produced that are dust mite-resistant. Not familiar with dust mites? Well, they know you—intimately. These microscopic bugs, closely related to spiders and scorpions, feed off the dead skin cells that our bodies naturally slough off every night—and they live in all conventionally-produced mattresses and are sure to take a bite (literally) out of the fun between you and your mate. Considering that all humans spend roughly one-third of their lives in bed, organic bedding is a definite investment.

SEXY AND SAFE
Part of my never-ending quest for all things organic was to find sexy organic lingerie. I was shocked when I discovered the bgreen line of appealing organic undergarments for both men and women. I wore this line throughout my entire pregnancy and felt beautiful inside and out. It may not be lace, but is very sexy nonetheless. Conventionally-grown cotton uses 25 percent of the world’s pesticides. Pesticides are well known carcinogens—which means they cause cancer. Conventional cotton is also treated with various chemicals like formaldehyde after production. Could there be a link between the chemicals in a conventional bra and breast cancer? It's definitely better to be safe than sorry. You'll feel good knowing that there are no chemicals used in the growing and manufacturing of organic cotton products. The end product is very soft, washes easily and looks fabulous.
