Local WAHM Makes Good

December 8th, 2010

Nurture.com, an online chic-tique and brick and mortar (in Ardamore, PA) for babies, toddlers and their hip mamas, is giving away a most fabulous personalized photo album.

What we love most about the giveaway (other than the chance to win—duh!) is that the oh so elegant photo albums are quite well made by a local (to Nurture) WAHM.

Way to support the moms and the local economy in one fell swoop, Nurture!

The contest ends at midnight on December 17.

Here’s the link to enter to win!

That Is The Question

October 29th, 2010

This week’s WAHM Bam, Thank You, Mom tip from WAHM expert Patty Hoffman of I Love 2 Be Home.com reminds us to ask questions:

“Ask questions—lots of questions.

Everybody has something useful to share, even those people with less experience than you have. Whether it’s a fresh take on something or a tried-and-true pearl of wisdom, there’s so boundless knowledge to be gained from just about everyone you know.

So get out there and start asking!”

Go Team!

October 22nd, 2010

This week’s WAHM Bam Thank You, Mom tip from Patty Hoffman of I Love 2 Be Home, a site dedicated to helping women get their work-at-home groove on, talks teamwork.

“Support your team! Remember that you’re all in this together. It’s your job to stay positive, to lead by example, to think big-picture and to roll up your sleeves and dig in the nitty-gritty but don’t forget how important it is be there for the people who support you. Take time each week to make sure that you know what’s going on with your crew and to remedy or redirect anything (or anyone) that’s off. Make sure your door is always open—not matter how busy you get. You are your team and your team is you.”

Don’t Stop Believin’

October 15th, 2010

This week’s WAHM Bam Thank You, Mom tip from WAHM expert Patty Hoffman of I Love 2 Be Home,  talks perseverance.

“As you soldier on in your journey as a WAHM, there is one piece of advice that, I think, supersedes the rest: Don’t give up! Never forget what inspired you to get on the WAHM train in the first place and keep a tight grip on your goals.  Yes, there are days when it seems all for naught and you will wonder about just what the heck you are doing and just why the heck you are doing it but this too shall pass—and pass quickly, if you allow it to. It’s not what you achieve in life but what you overcome to achieve it. A bad day or even a bad month does not have to define your career. Keep on keepin’ on and don’t stop believin’!”

Like, For Sure

October 7th, 2010

This week’s “WAHM Bam, Thank You, Mom” tip from WAHM expert Patty Hoffman of I Love To Be Home, a site dedicated to helping moms get their professional on from home, talks the universal truth that is the law of attraction.

“Attitude is everything! If you convey enthusiasm and always take a positive approach to every aspect of your business (even the things that you don’t love doing, like the accounting!), other people will be attracted to you and your business. You get back what you put out there and your intentions set the tone for your success.”

Money Changes Everything

September 27th, 2010

This week’s WAHM Bam Thank You, Mom tip from Patty Hoffman of I Love 2 Be Home, a site dedicated to helping moms work from home, talks cold hard cash.

“When starting your own WAHM business, there are a lot of options from which you can choose. It’s often difficult to ascertain which company is legitimate and which one is a scam.

Here’s my rule of thumb: Never invest a large sum of money. If a company asks you to put up a lot of money to start your own business, then that’s a major red flag. Consider yourself lucky that this red flag was waved in front of you before you parted with your hard-earned money and then run for hills!”

Background? Check!

September 22nd, 2010

This week’s WAHM Bam Thank You, Mom tip from WAHM expert Patty Hoffman of I Love To Be Home, is short and sweet but ever so crucial to the overall success of your next big thing.

“Before you choose what business opportunity is right for you, you must do your homework. Research is key! Find out as much information as you can about every business venture that you’re considering. Contact the Better Business Bureau, look into online company profiles, reports and even what people are saying on forums (though you’ll have to take that banter with a grain of salt). Talk to other people who are doing what you are considering and get their feedback on the business. The more you know, the better equipped you will be to make the right choices for yourself. Knowledge is power!”

Kick The Creeps to the Curb

September 15th, 2010

WAHM expert Patty Hoffman of I Love To Be Home, a site that helps moms start and run their own at-home businesses, give us her work-at-home-mom tip of the week:

“Keep your priorities.

Identify what your number one, two and three are and stick to them.

If your kids come first, then remember that when other requests for your time creep in—and they will!

Do your best not to deviate because you will not be happy with yourself!

What you value is what matters—and nothing should get in the way of that.”

E is for Effort

September 9th, 2010

This week’s WAHM Bam, Thank You Mom tip from Patty Hoffman of I Love 2 Be Home, a site that helps moms set up their own work from home businesses, talks consistency and effort.

We’ve got to keep this one in mind the next time we’re at the gym (or the next time we forgo the gym to get a little extra work done, even though we promised ourselves we’d take 30 minutes out of the day and do something good for ourselves—uh, but we digress).

“Be consistent. Success (at anything) is less about what you do or how much time you spend doing it. It’s about the consistent effort you give!

Think about raising kids, the consistent effort you put into making sure that they are safe, healthy, happy, smart, kind, competent human beings and apply the same long-term effort to your business.

If you only have one hour a day to devote to an at-home business, but you give that hour all you’ve got, you will still be amazed at the end of a year how far you’ve come.”

WAHM Bam Thank You, Mom

September 2nd, 2010

With the kids back in school (can I get a hallelujah?), Mommy’s got a little time on her hands. Sweet!

Many of you, we are sure, are thinking of getting a little joberoo. But what to do that will give you the flexibility to be a hands-on mom and still make some cold, hard moolah?

There are a lot of WAHM options out there so we turned to one of our favorite WAHMs, Patty Hoffman of I Love 2 Be Home, for a little advice on how to get the ball rolling on your latest and greatest (ad)venture.

Here is her tip on getting started:

“When looking for a job (whether it be work-at-home or outside the home), find something you are really passionate about.

You will not be very convincing or motivated if you are spending your time doing or supporting something that you do not have a genuine interest in.

All things told, it’s just not worth it if your job makes you unhappy. And, contrary to what the media will tell you, there are many great options out there for women like you.

You make your own destiny; you can definitely create your best life!”
