THE PLAY-IN-THE-DRIVEWAY WORKOUT


The weather is breaking and spring is here! The boys are on their bikes and the girls are drawing
their hopscotch boards, so why not join them—and get your exercise on while you’re at it?

Begin by warming up with the kids. Do a lap around the yard with them or play a game of hopscotch.

Next, grab a jump rope and get ready to move it, move it! Jumping rope is one of the best exercises you can do—and it’s cheap. This full-body, heart-rate-raising routine is a fun way to get your daily workout in and still hang with the kids. Bonus: The quick bursts of cardio boost your metabolism—and your butt.


Jump rope
1 minute (don’t worry if you mess up—practice makes perfect!)
In-and-out squats
1 minute (jump into a squat with knees slightly bent and feet slightly wider than shoulders, then jump your feet together and land in a soft squat; repeat)
Play-In-The-Driveway Workout
Push-ups
1 minute
Jump rope
1 minute
Dips
1 minute (use the bumper of your car or a step)
Walking lunges
1 minute (hold weights if you can)
Jump rope
1 minute
Bicep curl to a shoulder raise
1 minute (with weights or some soup cans)
Plié squats
1 minute (hold weights if you can)
Jump rope
1 minute
In-and-out squats
1 minute

1 minute
Jump rope
1 minute
Dips
1 minute

CAN YOU DO IT? Take a few laps around the yard and chase the kids.
Finish with 50 ab crunches and 50 bicycle crunches.

No excuses! You can do this. You can get in shape, be with the kids and enjoy the beautiful spring weather!
