SPRING CLEAN YOUR LOOK
IN NEED OF A WARM-WEATHER BEAUTY UPDATE?
HERE ARE THE LOOKS TO KEEP—AND TOSS—THIS SPRING

As you spring clean your home this season, don’t neglect to give your makeup drawer a once-over too.
Shelve the looks you loved last fall and replace them with the season's softer, sheerer alternatives. For tips
on the looks to love—and lose—this spring, check out these tips from celebrity makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff:

joey new york super duper lips dior gloss Full, bold, bright lips in sheer red, hot pinks and berries
While the matte, burgundy lip look was sizzling last season, this spring lips lighten up, popping with bright, sheer shades. The best way to achieve this look is to use a lip plumper like Joey New York's Super Duper Lips and pair it with a fabulously bold color like Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect in Fuchsia Poplin, a vibrant berry pink that will look great on anyone, says Sheriff.

Glowing skin
The best way to achieve healthy, glowing skin is by getting monthly facials, drinking plenty of water and tons of getting rest. If that sounds nearly impossible considering your frantic schedule, you can give your skin an instant boost of glow with Caudalie Beauty Elixir, a vitamin-infused mist that tones skin, tightens pores and gives a radiant glow, says Sheriff.
($49, www.sephora.com).

Nearly every consumer goods company is offering green products these days and personal care products are no different. Plenty of major luxury brands are offering alternatives in their current lines, most of which do not include parabens, chemicals, dyes or other harmful ingredients that may cause long term affects or are damaging to the environment in its production process. “bareMinerals from Bare Escentuals is one of the best, but there are lots available like Nvey Cosmetics, Aveda or even store brands like Physicians Formula,” Sheriff says. Overly bronzed skin
Avoid layering on the bronzer this spring and instead opt for sporting a subtle glow, advises Sheriff. Mixing a pea-sized amount of a sheer bronzing gel into your moisturizer should do the trick. Try Clinique True Bronze Bronzing Gel for Face.

benefit Show Offs Heavy, smoky eyes
Nothing screams “last year” like the smoky-eye look, Sheriff says. “Instead, paint on a sheer smoldering eye,” she recommends. To achieve this look, use sheer (as opposed to heavily opaque) powder shadow formulas and paint them on with a light hand. We love the consistency of benefit’s show offs!, which are loose powders that when applied sparingly, leave only a faint film of color on your lids.

Faux lashes
“The heavy-drama look of false lashes is a bit much this spring,” explains Sheriff. You can keep your lashes lush, but just take the look down a notch by using a super-lengthening mascara like Lancome’s High Définicils. ($23.50, www.lancome-usa.com)

HERE ARE THREE HOT LOOKS FOR SEXY SPRING LOCKS
1 Roughed up texture
Last fall’s po a low ponytail with a rough, textured tail, says Redken Session Stylist Jenny Balding. To achieve this look, she advises applying a super-strong gel at the roots, raking into the ponytail using your fingers. Instead of brushing the tail smooth, use a brush to backcomb the tail into a thick, rough shape. Mist with a finishing spray and you’re good to go.lished, ladylike looks give way to looser, more playfully causal ‘dos this season. This spring, lose your classy chignon and instead try sporting
2 Understated chic
Natural-looking, unpolished hair with a slight matte look ruled the spring collection runways, says Balding. Get this look by dampening hair with water and then misting a heat-active texturizer from the middle of your hair mid to the ends, avoiding your crown and roots. “Finger dry and then finish by misting hair with a flexible volumizing spray for a lived-in texture,” she says.
3 Rich, classic hair color
“Clients, such as Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Amanda Peet, are requesting deep reds, sophisticated browns and authentic warm blonde shades this spring,” says Tracey Cunningham, Redken Creative Consultant for Color.
