Empty out your refrigerator and kitchen cabinets. Everyone associates spring cleaning with rearranging closets and drawers—do the same in your kitchen. Start with your refrigerator. How many partially used jars of pickles or bottles of salad dressing and spices have been sitting in there for months and months now? Get a large trash bag and clear out the shelves, clearing your way to a fresh start. Clean the empty shelves and produce drawers to make an orderly place for fresh fruits and veggies. When replenishing these drawers, make healthful choices that will help boost your vitality and complexion. |

Clean out your skin care and makeup shelves. Go through your skin care and makeup and get rid of outdated or rarely used products. Most products have a shelf life of one to two years depending on how they are formulated, so if any product has been sitting on your shelf for over a year, get rid of it. Now is a great time to simplify and streamline your beauty regimen. |

Prepare your skin to come out of hibernation. As we remove those layers of clothing, what does your skin look like? Pale, scaly, dull, rough, thickened, dry? Stimulate and freshen the skin on your body via the following ways:
 |
Get a microdermabrasion scrub. These tiny round spheres that move in a circular motion buff away dead skin revealing fresh, smooth skin. |
 |
Use a sea salt scrub. You can purchase a finished product or make your own with dead sea salts (or any other kind you like—Himalayan salts are my favorite). Add a small amount of your favorite oil, (think: olive oil, sweet almond oil or jojoba) along with your favorite drops of essential oils, massage over skin and rinse off. |
 |
Try dry brushing. Dry brushing skin is performed with a soft (I emphasize soft) natural bristle brush beginning at the feet and moving upwards, followed by moving your hands up in the direction of the heart. Performed before showering, dry brushing is a good way to stimulate skin circulation and microcirculation, including the lymphatic system, which helps with elimination and detoxification. |
 |
Facial skin may seem a little bit more sensitive with the seasonal change. You may experience acne breakouts or a flare-up of rosacea. This is common and you may need to use a spot treatment for annoying breakouts; don’t worry, this will pass. |
|

Remove dry, dead facial skin with an at-home peel or microdermabrasion kit—but not both. |
| 5 |
Make sure to upgrade your SPF to 30 and over, in anticipation of warmer weather and stronger UVB exposure. |
| 6 |
Hydrate the skin of your face and body—inside and out. Moisture protection is essential for skin health and beauty, so always top off your regimen with a good moisturizer and several glasses of water daily. |

Take advantage of the beautiful weather by spending time outdoors, just soaking up the glory of the renewal that is taking place around you. Drink plenty of water to clean out your body and eat colorful fruits and vegetables, which raise the pH of your body. Upping your alkalinity is the key to a healthy, feel-good spring. |
